The company is based in Japan, and founded in 1959 by a Japanese radio amateur Sako Hasegawa (JA1MP) in the Yaesu district of Tokyo.


Originally intended for the local market in Japan, the brand's transceivers are from the 1964 available on the European market, then recognized worldwide.

In 1966, the Yaesu Musen company released its first HF decametric transceiver, known as the FT-100, it represented a major technological advance for the time, especially for radio amateurs.
