The 30 cm RG316 coaxial RF pigtail cable from Seeed Studio allows you to easily adapt a male RP-SMA connector to a female N-type bulkhead connector. It is designed to connect your radio equipment, LoRaWAN IoT gateways, Meshcore, Meshtastic or Wi-Fi access points to high-performance external antennas.

FAQ

What is the difference between SMA and RP-SMA?

The RP-SMA (Reverse Polarity) connector reverses the centre contact compared to the standard SMA. The RP-SMA male connector has an internal thread with a central receptacle (hole/female contact), commonly used on Wi-Fi equipment and certain IoT gateways.

Is this cable suitable for outdoor installation?

Yes, the RG316 cable features an FEP sheath that is resistant to UV light and temperature fluctuations. To ensure a perfect seal at the enclosure feed-through, make sure the seal on the female N-type connector is correctly positioned.

Does the female N connector allow for a chassis feed-through?

Yes, it is a ‘bulkhead’ type N connector, supplied with a nut and washer to securely fix the connector through the wall of an enclosure or outdoor cabinet.

What is the impedance of this pigtail cable?

The RG316 cable and its connectors have a standardised impedance of 50 ohms, ensuring perfect compatibility with radio and antenna equipment without any harmful impedance mismatch.

Can it be used for 2.4 GHz and 5 GHz Wi-Fi?
