The VGC VR-N76 is a waterproof (IP67) dual-band VHF (144-145 MHz) and UHF (430-440 MHz) walkie-talkie in FM analogue mode, designed for radio amateurs looking for a robust, customisable and connected transceiver.

It features remote control via Android or iOS smartphone, and the integration of a TNC KISS via Bluetooth, very useful for data communications such as APRS, packet, SSTV, etc., without the need for a box or other external control interface.

What is the purpose of the TNC with KISS mode on the VR-N76?

  • It enables you to use packet radio or APRS (Automatic Packet Reporting System), for example, without an external box or modem.

  • This means you can connect a smartphone or PC via Bluetooth or USB cable, and directly send/receive APRS frames, text messages or GPS positions, as well as all software supporting KISS TNC mode in Bluetooth and modes: SSTV, Morse code, as well as all software or applications supporting KISS TNC mode.

  • This makes the radio autonomous for digimode communications, practical for portable operations, SOTA or emergency situations.
