FAQ
Can I install the President JIMMY III in a 24V lorry?
The unit is designed to operate directly on a 12V (13.8V) supply. For installation in a 24V heavy goods vehicle, a 24V to 12V step-down converter rated at at least 3A (such as the dedicated President model) is required.
Does this radio require a licence to be used?
No, the President JIMMY III complies with European CE standards for Citizen Band (CB) radio, with 40 channels and 4W of power. It can be used freely, without a subscription or licence, in France and in most European countries.
Does the antenna need to be adjusted during the initial set-up?
Yes, as with any radio transceiver, it is essential to check and adjust the SWR (Standing Wave Ratio) using an SWR meter or power meter to avoid damaging the final power amplifier stage and to ensure optimum range.
What is the approximate range of this CB radio?
The range depends directly on the antenna fitted, its line of sight and the terrain. When used in a vehicle with a properly tuned antenna, you can expect an average range of between 5 and 20 kilometres in direct line of sight, or even further in open terrain.
Does the JIMMY III have a socket for connecting an external speaker?
Yes, it has a 3.5 mm jack output on the back, allowing you to connect an external speaker to amplify the sound in noisy environments.
