The Seeed Studio kit, combining the XIAO ESP32S3 microcontroller and the Wio-SX1262 module, is an ultra-compact LoRa development platform measuring just one inch. Designed for decentralised mesh networks and IoT applications, it enables the rapid creation of high-performance, autonomous Meshtastic or Meshcore nodes and LoRaWAN gateways.

What is the maximum LoRa communication range?

In open terrain (line of sight) or at altitude, the range can extend from several kilometres to several tens of kilometres, depending on the configured data rate, the terrain topography and the gain of the antenna used.

Can a battery be connected directly to the module?

Yes, the circuit incorporates a management and charging system for lithium batteries (LiPo/Li-Ion 3.7V), enabling standalone operation in the field.

How do I add a display or a GPS module to this setup?

The I2C (SDA/SCL) and UART (TX/RX) pins available on the XIAO board allow you to solder or connect an OLED display or an external GPS module directly.
