This SawBird + filter from Nooelec is specially designed to operate on the NOAA 137 Mhz frequency band and for NOAA weather satellite reception applications.
It makes it possible to significantly improve the performance of reception of NOAA signals with a gain of +30dB and a strong attenuation outside the frequency band, centered around 137.5 MHz.
The SAWbird + series contains 2 very low noise LNA filters, sandwiched around a high performance SAW filter.
Each LNA module has 2 EMI shields to separate each LNA from external interference.
3 different power supply options are available, but you should only power the Sawbird filter with one power supply at a time!
The recommended power supply is in Bias-T via the SMA connector with a voltage of 3V to 5V DC (for example with the RTL-SDR.com V3 dongle or the RSP1A SDR receiver) or via the micro-USB port or via the power input on the PCB.
Comes with: 1 genuine 137Mhz NOAA Nooelec SAWbird Plus filter, SAW + LNA, without box.
Power supply: 3.0 to 5V
Consumption: 180mA
Frequency range: 135 Mhz to 140 MHz
Center frequency: 137.5 MHz
Reception gain: +30 dB
Impedance: 50 ohms
Antenna connector: SMA Female
IMPORTANT
This preamplifier is very powerful and must be used with caution, never to use it near strong signals, or to emit a radio signal in the vicinity (FM radio, amateur radio station, walkie-talkie, etc.) Your SDR receiver.
How to protect the LNA from electrostatic discharges?
Electrostatic discharges can damage the LNA if it is not protected or used properly.
1 - Never leave the LNA connected permanently or place it permanently behind an antenna on the mat
2 - Disconnect the antenna and ensure that the LNA and antenna are properly grounded before reconnecting the antenna, discharging static electricity from the cable
No LNA will be taken back or exchanged for misuse.
This USB cable to micro-USB can be used as power cable for Raspberry Pi, cell phone Samsung S3, S4, S5 or any device with micro USB power port.
