FAQ

How long do I need to turn the crank to listen to the radio?

Generally, one minute of turning the crank (dynamo) at normal speed provides about 15 to 20 minutes of radio listening at moderate volume or a few minutes of lighting.

Can the radio fully recharge a smartphone?

The Powerbank function is designed for emergency charging (a few percent to make a critical call). The internal battery capacity does not allow for a full charge of a modern smartphone from 0 to 100%.

Does this radio pick up aviation or police frequencies?

No, the HRD-900 is a broadcast receiver. It picks up commercial and public radio on FM, AM, and Shortwave, but not amateur radio or aviation VHF/UHF bands.

Does the screen stay on permanently?

No, to save battery, the LCD screen backlight turns off automatically after a few seconds of inactivity, but turns back on as soon as a key is pressed.

Can the internal battery be replaced?

The battery is integrated into the device to ensure the waterproofing and robustness of the dynamo charging system. It is designed to last several years with regular maintenance (a full charge every 3 months is recommended if not used).

Why choose the HRD-900?

  • Extreme Versatility: It is one of the few models to combine Shortwave (SW) reception and a compact dynamo/solar charging system.
  • Digital Precision: Unlike analog emergency radios, the digital display allows you to find your listening frequencies exactly.
  • Value for Money: An affordable and complete safety solution for building a Bug Out Bag or a home emergency kit.
  • Passion Radio Support: Benefit from a warranty and technical support based in France for your radio communication equipment.
