How to use a Raspberry PI as a radio transmitter with Rpitx
Using Rpitx software from F5OEO, a raspberry PI can be used to transmit radio signals from 5khz to 500Mhz (AM/FM/SSB/FSQ/SSTV), using the GPIO 18 extension (pin 12) to connect a wire to serve as an antenna. The length of the wire depends on the frequency used to transmit.
Note that the generated signal is not "clean" and generates many harmonics that are harmful if amplified, without filtering.
With the addition of an RTL-SDR USB stick for reception, it's then possible, as an experiment, to create a transceiver with the qtcsdr software from HA7ILM.
As with any radio transmission equipment, the use is subject to the respect by the user of the laws in force in the country of use.
